About MidlandsKiwi

I started this blog in 2013, as the result of a suggestion from a very clever person I know.

The idea at the time was to chronicle my exploration of the Midlands, as a New Zealander finding my way around the local attractions, traditions, foods and accents.

After eight years as a journalist in my native New Zealand as well as India, Afghanistan, Germany and parts of the UK, the Midlands was another adventure.

But in January 2014, I moved to London where I’m still working in the news business.

I feel slightly dishonest in continuing to call this blog “midlandskiwi” but I didn’t want to change it.

STEAMING_ROADSo I’m keeping the name but writing about my experiences as a Kiwi in London.

Yes, another.

But I’m different. You’ll see.
